A Rich History
Spiritual direction has a long and rich history of serving the body of Christ. For almost two millennia, this practice has been trusted and relied upon to assist others on the journey to know and follow God’s leading.
A Ministry of Listening
Spiritual Direction is a means by which we continue in the process of spiritual formation by laying open the interior of our life and conscience for another person to see - and then to support that person in discerning the actions of the Holy Spirit and call of faith upon their life.
A spiritual director is one who helps another to recognize and to follow the inspirations of grace in his life, in order to arrive at the end to which God is leading him.

About Me
I'm Mark Werner, married to Valerie for 37 years. We've raised four adult children and now enjoy being grandparents to eight who call me Pop Pop.
I've served in ministry for over 42 years across parachurch and church settings. Drawing on my experience as both a pastor and spiritual director, I recently founded Turas Spiritual Direction to walk alongside ministry leaders and others pursuing lifelong faithfulness.
My ministry journey began with 11 years in campus ministry with Cru, followed by 21 years as a pastor at a local church. During this time, I studied toward an M.Div. at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL, and completed training in spiritual formation through The Transforming Center with Dr. Ruth Haley Barton, participating in both "The Transforming Community" and "Leading a Transforming Church."
I later became a certified WEPSS Enneagram trainer with Dr. Jerome Wagner in Chicago and completed my certification in Spiritual Direction from The Mercy Center in Colorado.
From spring to early fall, you'll find me on weekend nights on our back patio making pizzas for friends in the wood-fired brick oven I built—in my not so secret and never ending pursuit of crafting the perfect pie.
